Q-Z
Meet the tigerFriends.
In this section of the tigerFriends you will meet:
Sizzles
Sizzles was up late perusing the internet one night and happened upon the tigerDog site. Being a a 6 month old Harlequin greyhound he thought he was the ideal tigerFriend so he sent in his details.
Sizzles' best friend in the whole world is Jaxon, who along with his Mum and Dad, drove for 9 hours from Beaumont, Texas to Seminole, Oklahoma to adopt him!
Apparently Sizzles was part of a litter that only ran at 40 mph instead of 45 mph, so we weren't fast enough to be racers. Luckily the kind people at Fast Hound not only found Sizzles a forever home but also found homes for all of his littermates, ranging from Texas to Michigan. The lovely people at Fast Hounds are currently working on housing 2 more litters right now so if you are viewing this site from America, you now know where to go. That's www.fasthounds.org....
Sizzles' days now consist of eating, sleeping, and chasing Jaxon around the yard. He has also acquired a few new hobbies, one of which is gardening as you can see from the pictures.

Smokey
This is Smokey, a whippet greyhound cross. He came from GRWE in 2002. He had been unhappy in his last home and unfortunately had been mis-diagnosed with epilepsy. Look at the photo's, he has definitely settled into his new home!
Smokey lives with his brothers Monty and Winston and sister Honey and despite Honey's best efforts at getting Smokey to play, he only likes playing games with his mum.

Stanley.
Stanleys Mum is a volunteer for the North East Greyhound Lurcher Rescue and runs their excelent web-site. In between this, she also looks after her husband, 2 sons, a collie cross bitch and they also foster dogs, so their house is always hectic!
This is Stanleys story.
"Two years ago I was lost. I was very frightened, cold and hungry and I didn't have a home. One day I was caught by a man who was a Dog Warden he took me to the NEGLR. I waited for my owners to come and collect me, they never did so a man and lady said that they would take me home with them - they were to become my new Mum and Dad. I was found in a place called Stanley in Co Durham, so my Mum and Dad thought that this would be a good new name for me, Stanley - I thought it was pretty smart too!
When I got to my new home I got a lovely suprise, I had a new sister who is a Collie cross called Amy. Amy loved me and let me share her toys, but she did snap at me once when I paid a little too much attention to her rear end!!! I also had a huge comfy bed, but there was even more suprises to come - my Mum and Dad are foster carers who keep dogs until they can get a forever home, so there is always someone new to play with.
One day a little puppy called Lance came to stay for a while, I watched him grow and grow until he was taller than me and he was still with us. My Mum and Dad had decided that they loved Lance so much that his' forever' home would be with us, I was so happy I had a brother."

Tiger-Lily.
This is Tiger Lily. She was born two years ago, in the Cayman Islands in the sunny Carribean! When she was eight weeks old she was abandoned by the roadside in a cardboard box...
Tiger-Lily was rescued by the nice people at the Humane Society who looked after her, but she was still very frightened of everyone and everything... Luckily Tiger-Lily's mummy-to-be was working as a Behaviourist for the shelter and she looked after Tiger-Lily and gave her lots of love and attention and eventually she adopted Tiger-Lily.
Tiger-Lily now lives in England, and enjoys long walks in the woods and playing with her Nannys two dogs. Tiger-Lily also has a younger sister called Misty (who is also a rescue dog) and they like nothing better than getting up to mischeif together!

Winston.
My name is Winston and as you can see I am a real tigerDog. I was rescued by GRWE in 1994 when I retired from racing at 3 yrs old. I took to my new career of Residence On The Sofa with gusto. I do not move from the sofa for anything other than food and a real walk (not just going round the garden.) I didn't even raise my head when Granny chased a pheasant round the lounge!
I used to do some work for Greyhound Rescue West of England by lying on street corners with a collecting tin, but now I just lie at home. I love everyone and I am often mistaken for a Teddy Bear.
I live with other tigerdogs, Monty, Honey and Smokey who is not actually stripey. Luckily we have a sofa each to lounge on!
